Nine out of ten landlords happy with their agents

Residential landlords are overwhelmingly satisfied with the service they receive from their letting agent and find them an invaluable resource.

This was the chief finding to emerge from a survey of over 500 landlords by insurance provider Endsleigh.

The results show that nine out of ten (92%) landlords are happy with their letting agent service.

When describing their ideal letting agent, the vast majority (93%) of landlords say that one of their top priorities would be finding an agent who can provide good-quality tenants.

The ability to fill properties quickly was one of the top three priorities for landlords.

Carlos Thompson, Endsleigh account manager, said: “At a time when tenancy demand is outstripping supply in the buy-to-let market, it is crucial for letting agents to understand how best to service landlords, giving added value to existing services and products.

“Our survey confirms the importance landlords place on agents going that extra mile to service clients by finding good-quality tenants and filling properties quickly, while providing a consummately professional and personal offering.

“It also goes to show how important tenant referencing is to letting agents, allowing them to check tenants’ employment status, credit history and feedback from their previous landlord, if they have rented before.”

Lisa Heeringa, Lettings Manager at Shaws Estate Agents said: “This survey comes as no surprise and our own feedback from landlords would possibly indicate an even higher rating. Clearly keeping a property let at a good rent and handling any issues that arise promptly and effectively are key reasons why a landlord should use an experienced letting agent."
